While, After the return of Micromax to the Indian smartphone market for a long time, another Indian homegrown rival Lava Mobiles is preparing up to launch a new budget smartphone incoming next month (January) in India. The Lava Mobiles India had been teasing this on its social media profiles for a week now. And today, Lava Mobiles has shared the launch date for its next budget or a mid-range smartphone.
In an official post shared by Lava Mobiles on Twitter, the company revealed the 7th January launch date for its next new budget or a mid-range smartphone in India. The caption reads – “The day when Smartphone industry will never be the same again” and also carries the hashtag – #AbDuniyaDekhegi #ProudlyIndian (now the world will take note after this tweet).

The short video teaser shared by the company on its official Twitter profile, attached above only reveals the launch date of the next upcoming smartphone in the Indian market first. The details of the upcoming smartphone are not available at the moment. As per a recent report, it seems like Lava Mobiles is planning to launch four new budget and mid-range smartphones. They will be priced in the Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 (budget and a mid-range smartphones) segment to cover all bases in the Indian smartphone market.
The company recently launched the entry-level Lava BeU in the Indian smartphone market. It features an HD+ LCD IPS display, Unisoc SC9863A processor mobile platform chipset, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and 4,050mAh big battery. The Lava BeU runs on Android Go. The device also includes a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the rear and a single 8MP selfie camera on the front.
Lava Mobiles is now looking to contribute to the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Because Lava and Micromax is an Indian homegrown smartphone brand. Just like Micromax, it will give users a choice between homegrown and an abundance of giant Chinese smartphones maker in the Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 20,000 price segments. It will be quite interesting to see whether Lava will be able to match the price-to-performance ratio offered by its rivals like Realme, Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, Vivo, and Micromax.
